Tutoring Program of Excellence   Research Grant

Hunter Boylan Scholarship

All Nominations must be received by February 27th.  

General Application Instructions

1. To be considered for an award:

  • The nominee must be a current member of the ATP.
    • An exception to this would be the student nominated for the ATP tutor of the year award.
    • However, the individual making the nomination must be an ATP member
  • Applicants for any of the ATP awards can be self-nominated. 

2.  Each application packet should include a cover page with:

  • Name of the ATP award
  • Nominator’s name
  • Nominee’s name
  • Institution name and Department
  • Street and building address, city, state, phone, fax
  • Email address

3. Two copies of the application packet must be sent to:

4. The application packet must be postmarked by February 27, 2010.

5. All materials must be typed and double-spaced.  Cover page must be single-spaced.

6. Winners will receive an engraved plaque and will be recognized at the National Conference.  Individual winners and a representative from the winning program must be present at the conference where the award will be given.

The following rules govern the review of applicants:

  • Current members of the Executive Board and members serving on awards committees will be excluded from consideration for individual awards during their tenure
  • Membership on the Executive Board or an awards committee does not exclude that members’ program from consideration for an award
  • Anyone who has previously received an individual ATP award will be excluded from receiving another individual ATP award. 

 

ATP PEER TUTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

 

Purpose of the award

The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who exemplifies excellence in his/her tutoring abilities.  The recipient of the award as well as the college/university will receive an engraved plaque

Evaluation criteria:  Nominee must:

  • Be a student and currently employed as a tutor
  • Show initiative and creativity while tutoring and within the learning center
  • Serve as a role model for other tutors and students
  • Go above and beyond the role of a student which would include community service as well as other outstanding accomplishments related to tutoring

Application should include the following:

  • Letter of nomination which summarizes the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee
  • One letter of endorsement by faculty and one letter from current supervisor
  • Subjects that the tutor has tutored
  • Accomplishments

THE ATP TUTORING PROGRAM AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

 

Purpose of the award

The purpose of this award is to recognize the tutorial program that exemplifies excellence in training, scope of purpose and range of tutorial support to students within the academic setting.  The recipient of the award will receive an engraved plaque.

Nomination and Application Procedures and Requirements

  • Cover sheet with name, address, email, fax number and title
  • Letter of nomination must include the achievements and strengths of the tutoring program
  • Must have letter of support from the nominee’s dean or campus administrator
  • Detailed description of the center which includes:
    • Mission statement
    • Goals and current objectives of the center
    • List of center components
    • Staffing
    • Number of students that the center serves annually
    • Size of the institution
    • Partnerships with other campus departments or community agencies if relevant
    • Center awards or staff awards (name of award and recipient)
    • Supporting materials which would include, brochures, newspaper articles about the center, and documentation of any program certification

Applications must be postmarked by February 27, 2010.

Research Grant Award

 

Guidelines:

  1. Research project must address an issue pertaining to ATP mission and goals. See Article 2 in the constitution.
  2. Project must show promise of quality and usefulness as well as potential for replication at other universities.
  3. Proposed project must result in outcomes data that are assessed and indicate directions for future action. These outcomes data need to be included in next year’s presentation.
  4. Award recipient must attend the ATP conference in St Louis to accept the research award.
  5. Award recipient must attend the ATP conference next year and present the findings.
  6. Must meet the February 5, 2010 submission deadline.
