“I hope to help the ATP make more connections, continue development of the field of tutoring, and make a difference in the lives of tutoring personnel and their students.”

Pinder Naidu is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Math Lab at Kennesaw State University, Georgia where she is a tenured faculty member in the University College at Kennesaw. She has taught developmental and college level algebra at Kennesaw for fifteen years. She is currently enrolled in the Mathematics Education PhD program at Georgia State University which she anticipates completing by Fall of 2012. Her research interests include examining and developing the motivations of students seeking tutoring, as well as investigating strategies that work for developmental mathematics students.

The ATP is an organization that provides the opportunity for tutoring professionals to network, to develop skills and knowledge, and to assess the success of the students that they work with. The ATP also provides a link to other researchers interested in how tutoring can support and enhance instruction for students.

I was interested in a leadership role in the ATP because the field of tutoring is an ever expanding area within education and provides new opportunities for research. It is critical for us involved with tutoring to remain connected and current and the ATP is one way in which to do just that

I hope to help the ATP make more connections, continue development of the field of tutoring, and make a difference in the lives of tutoring personnel and their students.
